Hyrox at Bangalore 2026 - Lessons learnt and what next.

Third time participating in Hyrox and I still made some basic and fundamental mistakes. Anyway let me start telling you about Bangalore Hyrox from the beginning. This is my third time participating in Hyrox, all 3 times I did singles pro versions of the race. Also this is the second time I am taking a team with me. First time was at Mumbai in 2025 for the very first Hyrox in India; that time I had I think around 15 people as a team competing in both singles and doubles, women as well as men. It was awesome and amazing. This time though it wasnt as awesome and amazing as last time. I think one of the reasons is the way I look at it - first time was more about an experience and pushing myself out of my comfort zone whereas this time in Bangalore was more about pushing my physical capacity and trying to squeeze more out of myself. The irony here is that in Mumbai I finished the pro in 2 hr 20min and in Bangalore I finished in 2hr 23 mins. Funny how taking myself seriously resulted in me doing worse.

This is me regretting making stupid decisions, WHEN I KNEW BETTER !

2026 Hyrox from Kochi there was me, Bhadra and Radhesh, we all did singles - all of us finished in and around 2hr mark. Which is way higher than the usual average times for the rox, sadly we did way worse than I expected. Now the question is what went wrong? And what can we do to fix it so we can do better at Delhi in July.

  1. The Run - In my experience unlike creating capacity for strength creating capacity for running takes a significantly longer time. Especially more time for recovery, for some reason post run recovery takes more time then add in the time requirements for the long runs it all adds up a lot. Which means that I need to be consistent for a longer period of time with comparatively longer rest times and has reframed time period for run capacity development for hyrox to around 4 to 6 months for me. First 2 months for increasing speed and aerobic capacity for longer and faster runs. The next 2 months for increasing capacity of compromised runs. My suspicion is that I will need more than 4 months because I will also have to schedule for strength increase to make the sled push and pull faster hence 4 to 6 month schedule in my head. Which means perhaps finally I might do a1 hr hyrox in Mumbai in September and Delhi won't be as good as I expected.

Radhesh running like the wind. How he has so much run power at the last lap is still a mystery to us.
  2. Explosive capacity - I have severely neglected explosive capacity in lower and upper body and it definitely shows in my Burpees and Wall Balls. This time I need to program more plyo push ups and squat jumps AND more explosive hip flexion. Although I am not sure how to go about it but I do have some ideas for my first time programming explosive hip flexion.

  3. Electrolytes, Hydration, and Deloading - The importance of electrolytes and hydration was drilled into our heads during the Yoddha Race of 2025 when one of our members almost collapsed from heat stroke. This time in Bangalore I completely forgot to top up on electrolytes leading to muscle cramps right before my last run. Same for the deloading the week before no point deloading if you dont sleep and hydrate well.
